VISIT TO THE JESUS COLLEGE

Yesterday afternoon some of us went to the Jesus College for a little visit. It was founded by Elizabeth I in 1571 for the education of clergy, though now people study many different subjects.

At the beginning we went in the dining hall where there are some tables because there the students and the lecturers eat. But the room isn't very large so there are two shifts to eat.

In this room the wall is covered by wooden panels and there are some paintings; the most famous of these are that of Elizabeth I, Lawrence of Arabia and Harold Wilson. In the dining hall at the bottom there is the "high table" that is reserved to the lecturers and sometimes also the senior students can eat at this table.

Before and then people starting to eat they must say a little prayer all together and nobody can start to eat or stand up if before this prayer.

Then we went across the quad and we went in the little chapel of the College, where there are regular services during term to which all are welcome. In the past the chapel was the centre of college life. However now the situation is a little different because the students have many different religious beliefs. We saw the beautiful stained glass east window and a famous painting about St. Michael subduing the devil.

At the end of our visit we saw some panels where are related the name of some students fallen in the World War II.

Even if It was short,It was a very interesting and fascinate visit.

VISIT TO DAVID LLYOD

Yesterday we visited David Llyod, a private sport centre. For first Alessandro and Marco asked some questions to the sport manager Peter. He told us that there are about 3.200 attenders and they pay £70 or £85 including tennis. Although it's an high price you can play every kind of sport you want. In fact it's a large sport centre where there are 2 swimming pools, 2 tennis courts outside and 3 ones inside, dancing and yoga rooms and a big gym.
After this visit we can do a comparison between a private sport centre and a public one. In a public centre you pay less but you don't have many comforts and you can't choose among lots of sports; instead in a private centre you pay a lot of money but you can choose many kinds of sport.

VISIT TO BATH

Saturday, the Genzano group went to Bath. It is an elegant city of United Kingdom which is in Somerset and it is very famous as a thermal centre and it is the principal location for natural baths in United Kingdom. In the morning, we visited the Roman Baths Museum and the Pump Room. The first shrine at the site of the hot springs was built by the Celts, and was dedicated to the goddess Sulis, whom the Romans identified with Minerva; however, the name Sulis continued to be used after the Roman invasion, leading to the town's Roman name of Aquae Sulis (literally, "the waters of Sulis"). After the Roman withdrawal in the first decade of the fifth century, these " waters" fell into disrepair and were eventually lost due to silting up. The hot waters, thought to be medicinal, were used through the Middle Ages and redeveloped in the eighteenth century, housed in buildings by two architects named John Wood, father and son. Visitors drank the waters in the Pump Room, a neo-classical salon which remains in use, both for taking the waters and for social functions. Victorian expansion of the baths complex followed the neo-classical tradition established by the Woods. The Roman complex, rediscovered in the late nineteenth century and reopened to the public in 1897, as well as being a major archaeological find, has become one of the city's main tourist attractions, in multi- media presentation. Of Bath's notable buildings, Bath Abbey is one of the most striking. The Abbey was originally a Norman cathedral which later was rebuilt in gothic-style in the XVII century. Bath gives the opportunity to relax in its splendid parks. Many guys spent the afternoon in the Parade Gardens, a beautiful place!!! Other people went shopping and they admired many nice shops in the Bath's streets. It was a great day which we'll never forget!!!

Our ideas about Fashion in Oxford

In our opinion Fashion in Oxford is very crazy!!.
In fact lots of people wear strange and funny clothes.
For example hot pants without tights when it's very cold or miniskirts with horrible boots!!.
While other people are very trendy. They are always inquired about new looks!.
In fact they wear very stylish clothes by famous designers like Tod's and Chanel.
In Italy people like wearing sportive clothes like hoods, gymtrousers or casual clothes like jeans,t-shirts (smart clothes are horrible!!).
They think only about beauty, fashion isn't so important!!.
While here for everybody is more important fashion than beauty!!!.
In fact lots of people are overweight!!.
And the worst thing is that no one of them is worried about weight!!!.
It's so sad!!.
